Spring Service Spotlight - What a Spring Service entails on your Lawn Tractor or Zero Turn
It won’t be long before you’re firing up the mower and getting back into the swing of lawn care. Do you service your equipment every year before the season starts? Wait. Don’t answer that yet - we KNOW many of you take your equipment service *almost* as seriously as we do. But proactive, regular maintenance on a yearly basis is something we know saves our customers a lot of money in the long run, and many only bring their equipment in once the problems have already arisen.
So, we thought it might be helpful to have our Service Team outline our process and explain in more depth, what we can do to help keep things running smoothly.
Firstly, what happens when you drop your equipment off?
To keep things fair and timely for all of our customers, we use a first-in-first-out system for service work. Your items will enter the queue in order of when they were received and will be evaluated in that order. We have 3 small engine technicians and 4 power tool technicians on staff. For undiagnosed issues, when your equipment comes into the shop, one of our techs will complete an initial evaluation. Our evaluation fee is equal to 0.5 hours of labour - which is paid up-front. Once we have a chance to diagnose the issue, we’ll reach out with an estimate for a repair or replacement. The best part? Your evaluation fee then goes towards the total cost of getting the issue resolved!
If you choose to have the work done elsewhere, we’ll keep the evaluation fee for our technician’s time identifying the issue.
So, when it comes to getting your Spring Service completed, what is it that we do? Here’s the checklist we run through on zero-turns and lawn tractors, for example:
- Oil and filter change
- Battery check
- Blade sharpening
- Spark plug check (changing is extra)
- Fuel filter change
- Air filter check and cleaning (changing is extra)
- Check all belts and pulleys for wear
- Grease fittings greased
